New Team Member

Our Team is growing again - we are glad to introduce Sebastian Leitner who is joining us from the 1st of September as a PhD student in the ERC project SCARCE.

Welcome Sebastian Leinter!

 

Sebastian completed his Master’s degree in History (major) and Geography (minor) in January 2022 at the University of Zurich. His master’s thesis focused on the structures and practices of debt-making of in a rural debt network situated in the (pre-) alpine Region of the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. During his studies, he already spent a semester at the University of Vienna.

From 2017 to 2021, Sebastian worked as a student assistant for different chairs at University of Zurich. His main task was to support the lecturers in preparing and teaching the reading seminar courses. From 2021 to 2024, Sebastian also worked as a teacher at a Swiss Gymnasium (secondary school). Parallelly, he finished his teaching diploma in history and geography.

Sebastian’s research interests encompass a wide range of topics, including history of knowledge, social and economic history, environmental history, the Middle Ages and the early modern period, theoretical and methodological discussions in history, as well as conceptions and practices of nature, landscape and sustainability in the (pre-) industrial societies.
