New Team Member

Our Team is getting bigger - we are happy to introduce Sarah Seinitzer who is joining us from the 1st of March as a PhD student in the ERC project SCARCE.

Welcome Sarah Seinitzer!

She completed her Master's degree in History in June 2023 and her Bachelor's in Archaeology in April 2022 at the University of Graz. Sarah's master's thesis focused on the concept of body and mind in the treatise De immortalitate animae by the Italian natural philosopher Pietro Pomponazzi. During her studies, she spent a year and a half in Italy thanks to the ERASMUS programme (Università degli Studi di Siena in 2016 and Università di Bologna in 2020/21).

From 2021 to 2023, Sarah worked as a student assistant at the Centre for the History of Science at the University of Graz under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Simone De Angelis. During this time, she and her colleagues organised a workshop for young researchers on (In)visible Women in Philosophy and History of Science, which took place in March 2023. Sarah is one of the co-editors of the resulting anthology.

Sarah's research interests encompass a wide range of topics, including the history of science and medicine, the Renaissance, the early modern period, natural philosophy, the history of Italy, and burial and embalming practices.
